Finished my 2nd book by Anita Shreve, Body Surfing. Her style of writing is so NOT my style of reading but somehow, again, I am left in awe how badly I do not want to walk away from her book. It is so descriptive, reallllllly slow developing, I cannot conclude why I am addicted. I have another book by her sitting in my book pile and I think I just might have to pick it up for a 3peat. So bizarre.
Anyways, started The Devil in the White City last night, recommending readying by my trusted accomplice, Carly Seaton.

Who loves dogs?
I loved this book. Finished it in 2 days... it was a really easy read and totally hooks the reader. I loved Stein's use of metaphors to life and racing.
Now reading: Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol. Thought I read this, but when I picked it up at the lib, I realized I didn't. I didn't love (actually got half way and tossed it) Angels and Demons but I did love DaVinci Code. So I am really excited to see how I feel about this....

Books to Recommend
Finished this book: Random Acts of Heroic Love by Danny Scheinmann I highly recommend it, I LOVED it. It encapsulates 2 stories of love in the midst of tragedy and war. The author uses a very unique style to tell these stories. Part of the story contains some truth from his own life. Couldn't put it down.
Started The Art of Racing in the Rain and I am almost finished with it as it is a very easy read. Cute though. Makes me smile for simple reasons.

Book Club Meeting
Ok girls so we really need to have a book club meeting soon! I know everyone has been super busy (me included) but we should schedule something soon! Ashley and I were talking possibly doing something this Thursday at her and Jo's place...would that work for anybody?
If not maybe we could do Sunday evening or Monday even? I don't mind hosting again or we could always grab drinks somewhere or what not...
Leave some comments so we can get this squared away - also was thinking we should probably be half way through the book by now...that way we can be done in November hopefully and start a new one...I know I keep promising some questions to think about so here is one to start...you can respond in another post or in a comment or we can discuss later:
If you could have the life of Victory, Wendy, or Nico, which would you choose? Do you admire one of these characters more than the others? Why?
xoxo ~ Heather

I need to catch up!
Missed everyone!
This is what I read on my trip:
Baby Proof by Emily Griffin
I realize I am late on this one, but everyone complained about the character change from Something Borrowed and Something Blue. So I waited and I am glad I did, because I really loved this book!
All He Ever Wanted by Anita Shreve
This book had everything I hate about reading and I LOVED it. Couldn't put it down. What I hate you want to know? Romance, old english, overly descriptive, slow plot. I do not know why I loved it. Never read this author before, probably will pick up another and see how it goes. She impressed me so. Anyways, basically taken place in early 20th century, and is a journal written by a man who becomes obsessed with this woman from the first time he sees her. He records every single feeling and thought from the day he sees her throught their relationship.
Random Acts of Heroic Love by Danny Scheinmann
I am currently finishing this book recommended to me by Kira and Greg. I woke up early at their house and looked through their home library and got into this one before they even woke up. HAHA. Another romance, but Greg doesn't like romance novels either and he loved this. And he was right. I love it thus far. Will update when I finish hopefully soon so I can catch up with the book club.

Next Book Club Meeting - Lipstick Jungle Week 2
Hello ladies! I know that Ashley sent out an e-mail with the link, but don't think that her blog published. Anyway here is the current update - BBQ at Ashley and Jowanna's place on Monday evening. They are going to take care of the main course so if you can bring a side dish that would be great, you can respond with a comment on the blog here so we know who is coming and what everyone is bringing.
Also after discussion figured we could read through Chapter 6 in the book by Monday. I have done some research on questions for the book so I will post sometime this weekend to think about it and we can discuss on Monday night!
Hope everyone is having a good week - and all our members that are living outside San Diego we hope you all post some updates on your thoughts on the blog - if you need help in learning just ask one of us who has posted before.
XOXO

LIpstick Jungle
Hi ladies! Sorry it took me so long to put this post together. As we discussed a few weeks ago our first book will be Lipstick Jungle by Candace Bushnell. I purchased the books for the 7 fabulous ladies that live in San Diego (sorry Tara and Whit...but get your copy so you can keep up with via the blog) I was thinking tat we could have a pot luck dinner to kick it off and discuss how many chapters we want to read a week, etc. If everyone can offer up a day that works for them next week we can confirm a day, also let me know what you want to bring.
I have also looked up a reading guide for the book - I don't want to post that just yet b/c I think we should do a question week by week to keep the discussion going.
Love you all xoxo

The Lost Symbol
Hi!!!!!! Dan has inspired me to write a little post-aroo on the blog which I have just figured out how to do!!! Well the most recent book I read was the Lost Symbol, by Dan Brown. Let's be honest, I was a little late with this one, seeing as how the entire universe read it about a year ago. I read the whole thing in about 3 days and really liked it. Now I am reading Angels and Demons which I don't really like as much. However, being obsessive like I am, I have to finish and see what happens. Now that Dan has said how amazing the Dragon Girl book series is I obvi must read that. Any who, that is my thrilling blog and I hope you have all thoroughly enjoyed! Do love you chat soon. Oh, and Kel, it's Azkaban, not Ezkeban. Let's get it right Kel. I take HP very seriously!!!! Love you bye.
Stieg Larsson

HI!!! This is my first post and I hope it works!
Now I have just finished Book 2: The Girl Who Played With Fire and it was AMAZING to say the least. If you guys look on fb I had to tell Heather at 2am when I finally completed it. Now i need to go get Book 3: The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest!
Anyway these books are really good and you all should read them so I can discuss them with someone else since right now only Heather knows! haha
Love you all.

H20 FOR ELEPHANTS
In the book they refer to the elephant as a bull. Took me awhile... lol. It's slow but there are just enough sub climaxes to keep you reading. Sara Gruen is very descriptive. I'm almost done I will let all 3 of my followers know how I feel about this in the end! I think this might be one of those books that you look back on and say "that was a great book," but while you are reading it, not so much!
Also, RPATTZ staring in the movie... if that doesn't convince you!

HP4
Harry Potter won seeing as I already have it and I am too lazy to go to the lib. However, this one is not taking me long and will be ready for a new book shortly. Happy to be back in my reading mode and wish I wasn't at work but at home laying on the sofa and READING!

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Ezkaban
This book has taken me FOREVER to finish. I was moving and not relaxed enough to sit down for hours and indulge. But I am back with my nose in this book and almost done! I am debating whether to go straight on to book 4 or take a break and look at my other pile....
- Water for Elephants
-Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (this is a series also)
Whaddooya think?

Nineteen Minutes
Another Jodi Picoult.... My bff Mrs. Megan Pratchard is addicted to her and so she keeps me wanting to read Jodi. I have a hard time getting into JP's books because there are SO MANY character introductions in the beginning! So far this book starts off with a shooting at a high school.
Anyone read any AMAZING books lately?

Wish I went to Hogwartz
Finished HP and the Chamber! It was realllly good! I am now reading Victoria Gotti's This Family of Mine. Danny passed it on to me via Carl. It's reallllly good. Of course I did not know who GOTTI was so I had to ask some older folks who gave me the 411...

First Post
Kelly I'm so excited that you sent me a reminder about this blog. I look forward to keeping up with it especially with my new Kindle.
I am glad that you finally started reading Harry Potter. All the movies are pretty true to the book, but there are some details that especially come out in 5 and 6 that are not included in the movie...you'll obviously see what I mean soon enough.
Right now I am reading the Vampire Diary books. I'm still on the first two books and if anyone wants to borrow when I'm done let me know. I am also reading the book you lent me Sarah's Key and am almost done, it is pretty sad now.
I am actually looking to buy a new book for my Kindle and have been wanting to read Push...know Carly you mentioned it was crazy, but think I might get it to try out my new toy.
Kelly just wanted to say thanks again for setting this up, I love to read so this should be really fun :)

Kel is a Crack Up
Kel, you are really hilarious. I thoroughly enjoyed your quick synop. Anywho, I'm excited that other ppl like reading and now we can chat about it! Well right now I'm reading Anna Karenina....love that book, a good classic!!!! I also just read Push, the book that the movie Precious was based on. REAAALLLLYYYY Crazy book, but good. Only took me about a day to read. Now, Kel, I can't believe it has taken you this long to start reading HP. Clearly it is a favorite of mine. Do love you chat soon!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lightbulb
Okay so I figured out how to add everyone so as authors so you can post too! I just finished the first Harry Potter and as all of you know I have been soooo excited to read these. The first book was pretty true to the movie... minus Hagrid's dragon incident! Oh Hagrid! Love you! Anywho, naturally I give this book a 10!
Well I am saving the 2nd book for my lonely nights in OHIO (I am going there for work the last week in Jan).
Last night, I started reading Jodi Picoult's Salem Falls. It's really good so far. The beginning is kind of intense because there are like 5 million characters but once I got past that, it started becoming a Page Turner... and lets be honest, who doesn't love a PT?! Anyways, quick synop: man (Jack) accused of rape tries to escape his past... he falls in love some broad who doesn't know about his supposed rape jail time. some teenage witches screw it all up for him and he has to prove he is legit. Well at least that is what I think it's gunna be about!
LOVE YOU!
